Warning! Damages Furniture! June 10, 2010 K. Kack (PA United States) I thought this product was such a great idea, but after having it for a few days, I'm utterly disappointed. The changer damaged the finish on my brand-new dresser after being placed on it for a few days. I tried to reposition it, and it stripped off the finish. I would suggest putting something down underneath the changer and not placing it directly on your furniture. No doubt it will serve it's purpose, but the convenience of not having to change and wash covers is not worth the damage this product caused. Be warned (and see the pics I posted of the damage)!
So Convenient - Great Product May 24, 2010 Happy Parent This is a great addition to the baby's room! It is easy to clean when you encounter a mess and is very sturdy. We have ours on top of the baby's new dresser and it does not budge. Highly recommended for any new parents.
Great product with a few major flaws -- but a good company behind it May 16, 2010 Nina Karp (Baltimore, MD) First the good:
1) I love how warm and soft and comfy this changer is. Our baby just seemed happy and comfortable on it, especially when he was tiny.
2) Most of all I love how it easily WIPES CLEAN. After changing the baby, I can just swipe it over with a baby wipe if things seem... er... not-so-fresh. That's really priceless. I don't think I could be happy with a fabric-covered changing pad after using this changer.
3) The high sides effectively contain toxic waste spills.
Now the bad:
1) I bought the Vanilla, and it has seriously discolored. The middle is now an unattractive, dirty-looking yellow. I loved the soft cream when I bought it, but now I wish I'd gotten another color.
2) The pad has also fused with the painted top of the changing table! I seriously think we're gonna need a crowbar to get it off. On one hand, it sure doesn't move around... on the other hand, the top is going to need sanding and repainting. Now, this is a piece of furniture that we painted ourselves, not a factory finish. Perhaps it wouldn't stick to a factory finish. But it has really ruined the top of our changing table.
3) Our son is a smallish 9 months old (35th %ile) and is getting to be too tall. Other pads would probably last longer. The fact that this is so shaped adds comfort and utility, but limits its lifespan.
I guess it actually speaks pretty well of the product that, even with these flaws, I'm still happy with my purchase.
UPDATE: I contacted BabySmart about the discoloration, and they asked me to send them a picture. I'll send them the picture tomorrow and update with their response. They did seem genuinely concerned about the issue, which I appreciated.
UPDATE II: They're sending me a differently colored pad, and told me that they're discontinuing the Vanilla color. Three cheers for customer service! I'll be buying the Cooshee booster when the time comes.
"Chai Tan" = baby-poop color & product odor! April 15, 2010 T. Merritt (Oakland, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was really disappointed both with this product and with Amazon. The Cooshee changer claims to be non-toxic, and perhaps it is but it has a very strong chemical odder. If i were to keep it, i wouldn't even want to air it out inside my house, the smell is that strong. Also, it is a little smaller than i expected and i am not sure it would be useful for the entire time a child is in diapers.
Now, where Amazon failed, I ordered this item in Vanilla. It arrived and it was Navy Blue. I went through Amazon's return process and a new changer was sent out and arrived within 2 days. However, when the the new changer arrived it was the wrong color again. Again, it was Navy Blue and not Vanilla. UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Amazon and their customer service was amazing. They will give me a refund and are taking this item off the site until the inventory/color issue is resolved. They're also giving me a separate merchandise credit to makeup for the hassle and said they'd email me when the item is back up and the issue has been resolved so that i may reorder it then, if i choose to.
ANOTHER UPDATE: After looking at the reviews again and seeing that the Vanilla color stains easily, and because i was unable to get that color when ordering it, i went ahead and ordered the Chai Tan. Expecting a nice neutral beige color, as the website represents, i was surprised, and a bit disgusted, when the changer turned out to be baby-poop ocher in color. It's a very dirty-yellow type of color. Like brown mustard. *Sigh* perhaps i should have just stuck with the Navy Blue despite it not matching the room what-so-ever.
best thing I bought for our baby April 8, 2010 PNW Excellent product. It truly is not cold to the touch even in the middle of the night and cleans very easily. It is by far the best thing we bought for our baby!
