Buyers Beware-Fun toy, but expensive for something that will may or may not break quickly. May 22, 2010

I love Baby Einstein products. This is the second of these play gyms that I have bought, as well as a different Baby Einstein one; I got rid of the first and second one thinking I wouldn't be having any more kids, then when my daughter was about to be born, I ordered this one. My daughter got a couple of weeks' worth out of use out of this, then surprise, like another reviewer's, the star's music stopped playing. Hoping it was just the batteries, I replaced them, but the music still wouldn't play. I've contacted Baby Einstein's customer service e-mail address, and they sent me an e-mail saying that the manufacturer of the play gym, Kids II, will be contacting me shortly. So here I am with a $50 toy, hoping that Kids II will send me a replacement star, because although the other stuff is pretty neat, a 4-week old doesn't really care about anything but the flashing lights and music. I gave it 4 stars, and would have gave it five if not for the defective star, because it is a really neat play gym, and very good for babies' developing hand-eye coordination. My son loved his, and my daughter loved her star. To the other person with this problem-contact Baby Einstein customer service (the info is located on their website), and complain---maybe if they hear from enough of us, they'll fix the problem.

Although my baby is only 7 weeks old, he sort of likes this activity mat. I just got it and he seems interested in it but only for a short time. That could be simply because his attention span only lasts about 10 minutes. I do like this mat, after looking at many, many other comparable sets this seems to have it all. The musical star is entertaining and the songs aren't horrible, in other words it doesn't drive you crazy as a parent when its playing tunes and the variation is tolerable. The mat is bright and colorful, and there's plenty of toys and loops to hang them in different spots to make it look different every time the baby plays with it. I am hoping he grows into it and starts playing with it more as he begins to roll and prop himself up. It's a great toy for a newborn to introduce them to the idea of playing. I would recommend it for parents (like us) who work at home.

OMG. Bought this to entertain twin infant granddaughters. They LOVE the star. I am recommending this because they love it. Folds up compactly for transportation and storing. Mat is big enough to accomodate them both at the same time. Thank you.

We got this mat for my daughter at 4-5 mos old. We bought this one and another one (different brand, different mat) and this one is by far superior to the other one we bought. It is very colorful with good toys, and the music that the star plays is good music and plays for quite a while. And my daughter loves the light show that the star puts on! The only problem I had with the mat is that twice the star quit playing music and only the lights would work, HOWEVER i still gave this mat 5 stars because I notified baby einstein about the problem with the star and they very promptly responded and sent me a new working star. So now we have the musical star on the mat and the one that has only working lights is just in the bin as an extra toy. All in all, this is a great playmat, easy to take apart and wash and easy to change the toys around so baby doesn't get bored. Definitely worth the money, and baby einstein provides good customer service too.

I really lik ethis play mat. I actually got is as a hand me down gift and it has none of the origional toys, but i still love it and so does my son! the mat is very soft and i have bought my own toys to hang from it.
